Volunteers needed to help develop cultural heritage project in the New Forest

The New Forest National Park Authority has secured a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to put together a bid that could attract funding of around £2 million to the New Forest.

The bid aims to put a programme of innovative projects together that will celebrate and conserve the landscapes and cultural heritage of England’s newest National Park.

Two New Forest residents are needed to join the Landscape Partnership Board, a steering group that will direct the development of the bid during 2007 to 2008.

Applications are welcomed from anyone who has an active interest in the Forest, either through participating in various organisations, special interest groups or community involvement.

Libby Holmes, Project Development Officer, said: ‘This is a really exciting opportunity for someone who feels passionately about the Forest. We are looking for volunteers who will proactively seek the ideas of the interest groups they represent and to also help develop projects to be included in the bid.’

The Board meets around once a month and travel expenses to and from meetings can be claimed.

If you are interested in becoming a member contact Libby Holmes on 01590 646692 or email libby.holmes@newforestnpa.gov.uk for an application form.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 3 July 2007.
